The graduate has advanced knowledge in modern chemistry and chemical technology with emphasis on specialization. He/she is prepared to technological research in specific field, to complex analysis of chemical and technological processes and to their incorporation into practice in cooperation with other areas experts. The graduate is able to solve technological problems with application of modern data analysis systems and knows how to use modern chemical equipment. He/she has the knowledge in environmental protection and balanced development, recognizes principles of low, ethics and economy which might be used in technological processes. The graduate is able to work in the industry, research laboratories, administration and management. He/she has intellectual skills of permanent education and professional development and is prepared to undertake third level studies.

An admission to the second cycle of studies course is for graduates of engineering studies.

The graduate possess general knowledge containing manufacturing processes of chemicals and materials, their transformation and investigation. The specialized knowledge is accompanied by sufficient knowledge of chemistry, chemical technology, mathematics, physics and chemical and technological English. The graduate is prepared to work in industry, research laboratories, administration and other institutions where chemical and technological knowledge is required. The graduate knows preparation and safe application of chemical products and waste treatment processes. He/she is capable to promote balanced development, to work in team, to supervise it, to use professional literature and business low in term of economic activity. The graduate knows basic technological processes (particularly environmental friendly), is able to interpret and to make quantitative description of basic chemical and physicochemical phenomena, to perform laboratory work and to organize safe and effective place for it.

Graduates from MSc programmes may apply for PhD and postgraduate studies.

The final examination consists of two parts: the first - presentation of diploma thesis, the second - answering  questions devoted to the presented diploma thesis and to the whole study. The final result is expressed in words according to the Rules of Study at the Technical University of Lodz and is the sum of three components: 60% of the weighted average of all the grades achieved during the study, 20 % of the grade for the diploma thesis, 20 % of the grade for the final exam.

Credit for a particular subject is awarded to a student after collecting all partial credits as specified in the course schedule and passing all respective examinations. Credits are awarded and examinations are conveyed according to the Rules for Study at the Technical University of Łódź.
